Shoreditch Area Guide
Based within the London Borough of Hackney and Tower Hamlets, Shoreditch is well known for its colourful graffiti art which covers many walls and shop fronts through the High Street. Full of bars and independent shops Shoreditch is a fashionable environment combining modern architecture and its original buildings mixed in between.
Shoreditch was originally the centre of entertainment and was home to many theatre’s including the first playhouse where some of Shakespeare’s plays were performed. Aside from the art community within Shoreditch the area does also have a sophisticated side where you can find the rooftop bars, designer shops and upmarket galleries and high-end hotels.
The textile industry which impacted on Shoreditch and the style of architecture which still exists today has resulted in beautiful buildings and streets full of Georgian house and factories, some of which have now been converted with glass ceilings. Shoreditch continues to grow with its development of new builds and many apartments have been built within the original industrial buildings. The area offers the best of both providing residents and visitors with stunning tower blocks and original, quirky features. In the close by area of Hoxton you are provided with attractive red brick buildings, classic townhouse and traditional terraces offering residents plenty to choose from.

The large development which continues to grow within Shoreditch will offer more to the area including transport links with the Overground network and even more retail spaces, apartments and a further food market. The local tube stations, Old Street and Liverpool Street are also a great transport link for the area alongside many bus routes which head in to the city centre, London Bridge and Tottenham Court Road to name a few.
