Canary Wharf Area Guide

Located within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, Canary Wharf is a well-developed business district. Most of the area is made up of office and retail space where many major banks and media organisations are based. The modern skyline which is an iconic part of London has had quite a make-over since originally being and industrial dock to now being the lively business and residential area. Not only is the fresh-looking development home to many businesses it is quickly growing with professional residents.

Young families, first time buyers and business professionals are all attracted to the combination of traditions and modern designed buildings which also provide a large selections of high quality restaurants, bars and shops. With most of the area being on the waterside there are beautiful views to enjoy all throughout the year.

Located in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, on the Isle of Dogs the area has great transport links, especially the DLR which covers West India Quay, Canary Wharf and Heron Quays. This transport link provides easy access to London City Airport and London underground stations and many London bus routes running through Canary Wharf allowing residents to travel around London.

The area continues to grow especially with Crossrail due to be arriving in 2018 which is inviting more and more residents to the borough. Local schools and Mudchute Farm create an interesting environment perfect for young families looking for a modern location.

Many of the properties within Canary Wharf are apartments some of which are stunning penthouses overlooking the waterside views over the rest of the city. However, there is still the choice of terraced houses, cottages and townhouse for residents to choose from.

Even though the area is known for its busy business environment, residents and visitors can still relax in the large choice of restaurants and bars after a long day at work. The large green space that was saved in 1970’s is Mudchute providing plenty of countryside to escape from the fast-passed city.
